CFANZ commitment to best practice

Community Foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand sees a commitment to international best practice as being central to our mahi and we strive for the best of standards, ethics and transparency across the network. In recent years we have introduced a programme of attestation and national standards, co-designed by our members. As part of this process:

  • CFANZ members are asked to commit to standards of fundraising best practice and adhere to the International Statement of Ethical Principles in Fundraising.
  • CFANZ members all have professional investment managers and a written investment strategy (or SIPO).
  • CFANZ members are guided to be better grantmakers through Philanthropy New Zealand and their transparency guidelines.

CFANZ's Vision:

"Strengthening the communities of Aotearoa New Zealand - Hei whakakaha, i ngā hāpori o Aotearoa."

Our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi

We recognise the role of Te Tiriti o Waitangi/The Treaty of Waitangi as the foundational document for Aotearoa New Zealand and we recognise that the principles in Te Tiriti must guide and inform our practice, both individually and collectively. We are committed to growing our Te Ao Māori knowledge and our understanding of what it means to authentically work in partnership with Māori in communities.
